Giant adidas poster, Berlin
adidas megaprint on Alexanderplatz
Footballer Mesut Özil is an established presence on Germany's national team. And, at the start of June 2014, he could also be seen on Berlin's Alexanderplatz. It was here that, to mark the 2014 World Cup, the offices of the Berliner Zeitung were draped with a huge image of the star player, complete with his explosive kick.
The eye-catching 90 x 60 m poster was produced by PPS. Imaging subsidiary vertical vision, commissioned by media agency AF-FIX as part of a campaign for sportswear manufacturer adidas. Within the space of a week, around 5,400 m² of net vinyl print was put together from 72 individual pieces and secured with around 2,200 linear metres of transparent binding. The motif seams were partly welded and partly zippered, edge-reinforced and eyeleted. Overall the installation weighed four tonnes.
As one of the city's most central locations, Alexanderplatz proved the ideal showcase for out outdoor capabilities, guaranteeing maximum exposure and impact.
